Last October 4, former Vice President Leni Robredo closed the door for the national position as she filed, together with Team Naga 2025 the candidacy for Mayor in the Midterm Election next year.

Together with, the group of City Councils of her Team Naga 2025 was also there to file their candidacy, including Jessie Albeus, Ghiel Rosales, Melvin Ramon Buenafe, Gilda Gayle Abonal-Gomez, Jose Perez, Vito Borja II, Frank Mendoza, Elmer Baldemoro, Mila Raquid-Arroyo and Allan Reiz Macaraig.
The slate was compose of professionals with good backgrounds from various fields, such as law, psychology, and healthcare.
Former VP Leni follows in the footsteps of his husband, former DILG Secretary, Jesse Robredo who served as Mayor of Naga for six terms, where he was given the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 2000, the First Filipino Mayor to have this.
Maria Leonora “Leni” Robredo was the former Vice President during the Duterte administration from 2016 to 2022. As Vice President, she got tons of recognition from international award-giving bodies for her good service. Her term ended last 2022 with her and OVP getting the Unqualified Opinion for the fourth straight year.
On the 2022 National Election, she pushed her luck and run for President against Bongbong Marcos, son of Former President Ferdinand Marcos. She didn’t win but garnered the most number of campaign rally attendees from Pasig, Pasay and Makati to other part of the country.
According to International Media Outlets, like BBC and Reuters her “Pink Revolution” campaign was like a symbol of hope for the country. BBC even added, “She is the sitting Vice President with a FINE RECORD of public service and NO TAINT OF CORRUPTION. On paper, Leni Robredo should be a dream candidate.”
