The “Youthpreneur” event is a program organized under an agreement signed in November 2023 between the Department of Education and Go Negosyo, a non-government organization that promotes entrepreneurship. The program aims to promote an entrepreneurial mindset among Filipino youth, build skills through mentorship and increase financial literacy.
At the same event, Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion described mentorship as “a very powerful tool” and said he had been mentored by his father, the industrialist Jose Concepcion Jr. The Go Negosyo founder also said today’s youth have a “golden opportunity” because of social media, which is rapidly changing how products are sold.
Almost a thousand senior high school students stayed for the half-day learning session with some of the country’s top businessmen to learn about the basics of entrepreneurship. Similar events have been held in Fairview, Quezon City; Binondo, Manila; Baguio City; and Laoag.
Overall, there are more than 1,800 students had gone through the program.
