P-POP ON THE RISE. It’s been month since the start of this craze that took the country by storm. Newly named Nation’s girl group has been chosen from the thousands of hopefuls from STAR HUNT PH under ABS-CBN in 2019.
They are BINI. The group’s name was taken from the Tagalog word “Binibini” which means “young lady“, a nod to the group’s vision to “embody the idea of a modern Filipina — sweet, fierce, independent, and informed.”
It all started when their hit “Pantropiko” dance challenge trended in Tiktok at the start of this year. It became popular and a hit at the same time as it was being used by famous Tiktok Artist like Niana Guerrero, AC Bonifacio, and even foreign artist like Minzy of South Korean Girl Group 2NE1 and UNIS, also a KPop Girl Group.
On November 21, 2020, way before their debut, Bini performed their first live performance of ‘Da Coconut Nut’ on the noontime variety show, It’s Showtime. Then finally, the group which was composed of 8 members, has officially debuted on June 11, 2021. Their very first single was “Born To Win“ followed by Kapit Lang, I Feel Good, Nanana, Karera, Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi and Lagi.
The group’s age ranging from 19-23 has been rocking the Philippine Music Industry ever since their hit, Pantropiko (currently has 22M Streams on Spotify, and 7.9M views on Youtube) was released last November 2023. The summer feel good vibes of the song has been the crowd’s favorite in every mallshows of the group. The song has already reach the Philippine Viral Hit Song in Spotify and BINI is currently the most streamed P-Pop group in the country surpassing SB19. Their latest song, “Salamin, Salamin” has been number 1 on the chart for 2 weeks now, also making them the first P-Pop group to have the most monthly listener on Spotify at 3 Million.
Their latest album, Talaarawan was released on March 8, this year. Upon the released, they also announced that they will have their very first concert, titled “Bini Verse” at New Frontier Theater in Cubao on June 28, 2024. The ticket sale started on April 2, 2024 but 2 hours after, the ticket was already sold-out. The fans demanded for additional dates which was heard by the management and added 2 additional dates, 29 and 30. But same as the first day, it took only less than 2 hours and the tickets for both day was already sold out.
