When it comes to aquaculture, the Philippines has shown great potential, with a long coastline, abundant freshwater resources and a warm climate that is ideal for many aquaculture species. In fact, Philippines is the most prominent milkfish producer in the world, having its government strong commitment to develop sustainable aquaculture.
During the recent Aquaculture Philippines 2023 at the World Trade Center, ADM, a global leader in human and animal nutrition presented a technical seminar focused on “Efficiency for aquafarming based on carrying capacity.”
Presented by Cuong Huynh Tran, Regional Aquaculture Technical Manager in Asia, and Julius Benagua, Regional Aquaculture Technical Support in Asia, ADM highlighted the company’s role in enriching aquaculture industry in the country as well as how carrying capacity should be implemented by aqua farmers across the Philippines.
Beyond the operations, appropriate carrying capacity can help aquafarmers optimize their yields while minimizing their environmental impact. By carefully managing the number of fish, aquafarmers can ensure that their farms remain efficient and productive.
ADM is dedicated to working with aquafarmers in the Philippines to help them understand and follow the optimal carrying capacity. To ensure sustainable aquaculture practices are being developed, training and technical assistance is being done consistently throughout the country.
Aquafarming also plays a vital role in achieving food security targets. “ADM is committed to empowering our partners in the aquaculture industry to unlock the power of nature and to enrich the quality of life. ADM supports safe and productive aquaculture to help bring food to the table of Filipino families across the country,” said Benagua.
Working together with the government and private sector partners like ADM Philippines, aquafarmers can help address various challenges of the industry and meet the growing demand for fish and seafood products across the country.
