PASIG CITY – It was a fun and exciting weekend as Club Gymnastica hosted this year’s Philippine Cup that featured more than 500 participants from 21 clubs located in the different parts of Metro Manila.
More than the competition, it was a sight to behold with participants and their family and friends supporting the event, sponsored by MILO.
Philippine athletes have shown great potential in various sports. And gymnastics is a sport that is continuously growing in popularity. Before, it was Bea Lucero who became the face of gymnastics. But now, after having won many international competitions, Carlos Yulo has become the ambassador of the sport.
Over the years, gymnastics has faced a lot of challenges. The lack of media coverage as well as fundings resulted in the sport to grow slowly. Thankfully, there are companies such as MILO, who, with their slogan, “BUILDING CHAMPIONS IN LIFE”, has been consistent with their partnership with different organizations. And their partnership with Club Gymnastica is one great example that has been instrumental in producing world class Filipino gymnasts.
There are a number of gymnastics clubs in the Philippines. These clubs offer training and instruction to gymnasts of all ages and skill levels. Club Gymnastica, founded by Mrs. Susan Talingting, a former national gymnast herself, is one of the most established gymnastics club in the country.
In the recently concluded Philippine Cup, the annual competition attracted a total of 21 participating clubs that include Club Gymnastica Pasig, Makati and Britanny Fairview, Leaders Gymnastics Team, St. Paul Gymnastics Team, PGAA S.TY Gymnastics Academy Muntinlupa Gymnastics Club, The Making of a Champion Bulacan, Cebu Gymnastics Academy, Lasugbo Gymnastics, Gymnastics Academy of the Philippines, British Shool Manila, International School Manila, Westfield International School, Timoteo Paez, PAREF Rosehill, Active Central, Rizal Gymnastics Team, CSA Makati and Assumption Antipolo.
Founded in 1981 by the Lucero family as a national training center for their daughter, Bea Lucero, this initial endeavor laid the foundation for the future success and growth of the event.
Venus Joy Talingting, Club Gymnastica General Manager gave MNLToday.ph some background about the Philippine Cup 2023.
Also sponsored by Shakey’s R&B Milk Tea, Summit Mineral Water, and Robinson’s Easy Mart, expect the succeeding tourneys organized by Club Gymnastica to be bigger and exciting.
