MANILA, Philippines — By collaborating with a local provider of communications equipment on telephone services, one of the biggest Chinese telco businesses has increased its market penetration in the Philippines.
Gur Lavi Corp. (GLC) and China Mobile International Ltd. (CMI) made the announcement that they had formalized their relationship in a number of projects by signing a memorandum of understanding yesterday.
Erwin Co, president and chief executive officer of GLC, stated that CMI would use GLC’s Telavi, a cloud-based call center technology, to increase its customer reach in the Philippines.
According to the agreement, CMI will integrate Telavi in the product lineup it offers to clients in this location. Customers can choose from a number of services offered by all-in-one communications Telavi, including team messaging, voice and telephone, call center solutions, video conferencing, and collaboration.
Co claims that the partnership strengthens CMI’s efforts to gain a foothold in the Philippine market. On the other hand, GLC gains from the alliance by increasing its exposure to CMI’s clientele.
According to Michelle Bautista, head of the GLC division for channel sales, Telavi now has access to at least a million Philippine households served by CMI as a result of the relationship.
For our Telavi, we are looking at over a million households overall, if you look at the market for China Mobile, said Bautista.
Also, according to Bautista, GLC can establish long-term relationships with about 100 national telco and internet service providers that CMI serves.
Co, for his part, stated that GLC and CMI are working on fresh initiatives that they plan to launch before the year is through. GLC executives acknowledged that they had signed a non-disclosure agreement with CMI but stated they would make the announcements soon when asked what these obligations were.
“CMI is our first significant partner for Telavi in the Philippines this year, [as] we see the enormous opportunity to interact with them due to their strong relationship with cable providers across the country. Not to mention their extensive telco portfolio, to which we may add not only Telavi but also our own solution offerings, added Co.
As part of its goal to become a one-stop shop for cloud and telephony services, GLC specializes on innovations and solutions in business communications.
By providing voice, internet, mobile, and roaming services to its clients globally, CMI, a division of the government-run China Mobile Ltd., meets the demand for telecommunication solutions on a global scale.
