As Metro Manila was downgraded to alert level 2 by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila has opened its doors to more devotees.
According to Parochial Vicar, Fr. Douglas Badung, the church may now operate at 70% capacity but only accommodates vaccinated people. However, unvaccinated people may still be allowed to enter in short periods of time when there is no mass.
The spokesman for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, Fr. Jerome Secillano said that this is good news for the Filipino Catholics to be able to attend mass physically. The Catholic Church was compelled to go online in compliance with government restrictions against COVID-19
