Jimmy Alapag was named assistant coach by the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League.
The former Gilas Pilipinas leader will serve under head coach and ex-NBA point guard Bobby Jackson who also played 5 seasons with the Sacramento Kings.
“Words can’t express how thankful I am for the opportunity to join the Stockton Kings for the upcoming NBA G League season!” Mr. Alapag posted on Instagram after the announcement was made.
Jimmy was part of the coaching staff of the Stockton Kings and help the team secure their 2nd NBA Summer League championship held in Las Vegas
“I’ve learned so much in the past month in all phases, in terms of player development, philosophy, terminology, and again, I’ve just continued to be a sponge from all of it,” said Alapag.
“A really proud moment for myself and understanding that I am not just representing myself and my family, but ultimately the Philippines. It was great to be out there,” he added.
The Mighty Mouse had coaching experience as an assistant at San Miguel and head coach of Alab Pilipinas, which he led to an Asean Basketball League (ABL) championship in 2018.
Mr. Alapag is no stranger in the coaching job as he continues his journey to be a better coach, and someday might be able to find his spot on an NBA team.
