The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is looking to allocate cash aid next year to 3 million displaced workers that are affected by COVID-19.
The Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment, Bello mentioned that the agency plans to include in its 2022 proposed budget to fund needs for the program implementation.
“We are targeting about three million beneficiaries,” Bello mentioned in a virtual press briefing.
Bello said they already exhausted the allocated funds for the CAM program under the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act (Bayanihan 1) and Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2).
Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said the agency is also seeking a bigger budget for next year for the Government Internship Program for the youth.
DOLE requested additional P2-billion funding from the DBM to supplemental funding for the distribution of one-time cash aid to workers affected in areas that were placed under enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila and other areas.
