The senior citizens in Quezon City had started vaccinating against the COVID-19 last March 31. AstraZeneca Vaccines for the inoculation of senior citizens had allocated 2,000 doses by the government, with the great aim of protecting them from the deadly complications that this virus can give to them, especially at their age, most of them are immune-compromised.
“Ating inilaan ito sa mga senior citizen upang sila ay maumpisahan nang mabakunahan (We allocated it for the senior citizens so that they start receiving the vaccine),” the local government said in a statement that was released in the public after the rollout of this inoculation had started.
“Kasunod ng ating mga active frontline health workers, mahalagang mabakunahan na rin agad ang ating mga senior citizen. Subalit hindi pa sapat ang ating supply ng AstraZeneca (After our frontline health workers, next line is our senior citizens, who are also important to be vaccinated immediately. But the supply of AstraZeneca is not enough),” they added.
The LGU had said that they also have Sinovac vaccines, but since it is not recommended for senior citizens because of its side effect and with the mentioned age range, they will just allocate it to the other priority groups.
Those who would want to be vaccinated can still register online at https://app.ezconsult.io/signup?userType=Patient or at https://qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph/ for assisted booking.
