MANILA, Philippines – In a televised press briefing Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque welcomes former Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan as Undersecretary at the Office of the President.
President Rodrigo Duterte signed the appointment papers last Monday, February 2021 assigning the position of Undersecretary at the Office of the President. Another appointment of a former police or military personnel in the cabinet.
After a 2-month stint as the Philippine National Police Chief, Cascolan stepped down due to the mandatory retirement age of 56 last November 2020.
Among his achievements during his short stint was the establishment of the 9-point action agenda which includes the transfer of police personnel near the areas where their services are required.
Also, Cascolan took part in planning the “Oplan Double Barrel” — a flagship program to fight against illegal drugs, which includes the controversial program “Oplan Tokhang”.
Gen. Cascolan, was succeeded by the current Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Debold Sinas. Which then become infamous by the alleged mañanita violating the 10-people limit during the strict COVID-19 lockdown.
