Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is taking an incentive-based approach to curb the transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the community.
An incentive- based approach is being applied by Mayor Isko Moreno of Manila to try and combat the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). He said that the local government will award a cash incentive of P100 000 to Barangays with no new cases of COVID-19 for 2 months.
The Manila Health Department will be tasked with verifying if the barangay had zero infections for two months.
A total of P89.6 million will be allocated for the program by Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna.
Along with the cash incentive, officials of barangays that recorded zero cases will be given certificates of recognition for their efforts in combating the transmission of the disease.
Manila has a total of 897 barangays and 16 districts, which are grouped into 100 zones.
E-learning hub
Meanwhile, the Manila City government also launched an e-learning hub in Barangay 585, Sampaloc in an attempt to help students, faculty and parents adapt with the blended distance learning with the start of classes in public schools this coming October 5.
This program aims to promote quality and provide accessible materials and education to students while face to face classes are still prohibited.
Equipment like computers, printers and access to internet connection will be made available to the e-learning hub.
“We appreciate the benefits that this educational hub will bring to students and teachers. This will help them cope with the new normal of learning,” Moreno said.
