Bianca Umali a contract artist of GMA Network who is well-known lead actress in “Sahaya”, is to start a project as the lead main role as “Alex” with HBO Asia in the renewal of the network’s dark action fantasy series, Halfworlds. Filming for the eight-part third season in the Philippines.
Halfwords first two seasons were inspired by the diverse Southeast Asian mythologies and were filmed in Jakarta in Indonesia, and Bangkok in Thailand. While the third season will be filmed in the Philippines and will be directed by Mikhail Red, an international-acclaimed Filipino filmmaker.
“We saw that she has so many parallels and similarities with the character, the lead of Halfworlds, And on the spot, she did an audition and I think she even cried and she was super emotional in that audition. She blew us away.” said Mikhail Red.

The third season plot ventures from the streets of Bangkok to the streets of Manila, where bloody creatures called Engkantos live among the humans. Alex, a mixed of half human and half-Engkanto, seeks to find a the original source of the dwindling haven plant to heal all Engkantos of their hunger for human flesh while in the middle of war between Engkanto tribes wanting to possess the plant and power.
The series marks the longest-running Asian original series for HBO Asia. Shooting will start this January 2020 and set to premiere exclusively on HBO GO and HBO. In partnership with Cignal TV and the series will also see returning cast from the previous seasons.
