The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will continue to build secure internet access across the country.
The DICT’s Pipol Konek – Free WiFi Internet Access in Public Places project aims to help the government’s efforts in developing internet accessibility for Filipinos. This is to develop economic, social, and educational opportunities, and closing the digital gap.

Through the project, the government hopes that thousands of schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, libraries, parks, plazas, and transportation such as airports and seaport terminals will be able to enjoy free internet connectivity and allow many Filipinos access to a means of communications and source of information and opportunities.
DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan promised to strengthen DICT’s efforts to provide cheap, fast, and secure internet access to the Filipino people.

“This is just the start. We will continue doing this not just for the remainder of the term of the President, but beyond it,” Honasan said.
The Free WiFi Internet Access in Public Places project of the DICT undertakes to hasten the government’s efforts to developing internet accessibility for Filipinos.
This is in hope of bolstering economical, educational, social opportunities, and closing the growing digital divide.
