The Aga Muhlach starrer “Miracle in Cell No. 7” which is a remake from the original South Korean movie, has released its first official trailer.
Producer Viva Films shared the first trailer of the film in their Facebook account Wednesday starring Aga Muhlach who plays Lito, a mentally impaired father (named Yong-gu in the 2013 film) who is wrongfully charged with sexually assaulting and murdering a little girl, Xia Vigor who portrays his youngest daughter, Yesha (originally named Ye-seung in the 2013 film), and Bela Padilla as his daughter who became a lawyer who is determined to prove her father’s innocence.
As in the 2013 original, the adaptation centers on a mentally challenged man who is wrongfully imprisoned for murder. He forms friendships with his fellow inmates, who then connive to have him reunite with his daughter.
In the remake, directed by Nuel Naval, Aga Muhlach plays Lito, the father, while Xia Vigor portrays his daughter, Yesha. The Korean film took the world by storm in 2013, and this year, its Filipino adaptation will try and win the Filipinos’ hearts this coming December 25, with the movie being part as one of the movies officially included in this year’s Metro Manila Filmfest.
Cast members also include Joel Torre, JC Santos, Mon Confiado, Jojit Lorenzo, Soliman Cruz, John Arcilla, and Tirso Cruz III, Bela Padilla, and Tirso Cruz III.
Earlier this year, Viva Films announced that Nadine Lustre will be starring alongside Aga Muhlach in the remake, but Lustre decided to back out and the role has been given to Bella Padilla instead.
Aga’s “leading little lady” Xia Rigor, rose to fame when she impersonated American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift in Your Face Sounds Familiar: Kids (season 1). She also co-hosted alongside Billy Crawford and Vhong Navarro in noontime show It’s Showtime.
