The De La Salle University Department of literature held a conference last May 16-18, entitled “Writing the classroom 3: Teaching of humanities and literature,” at the Br. Andrew Gonzalez FSC Hall at the De La Salle University-Manila campus
The Commission on Higher Education endorsed the conference featuring a keynote lecture by DLSU University Fellow Dr. Marjorie Evasco, with a roundtable on the Interdisciplinary of Literature and Literature and Industry.
The opportunity was given to the participants to attend master classes in Southeast Asian literature, critical theory, literary translation, literature and humanities, literature and creative writing, literature and social sciences, literature, and sciences, and literature and performance.
Helping the educators, a teaching manual titled Breaking Walls: A Collection of Literature Teaching Modules was distributed to the conference participants. The faculty members of the Department of Literature and the office of the Vice President for Lasallian Mission prepared the manual that contains modules on teaching Afro-American, Anglo-American and Philippine literature; 21st century literature from the Philippines and the world; poetry, fiction, drama and creative nonfiction both as genre and/or creative writing courses; and literary criticism (Marxism, Psychoanalysis, Deconstruction, Feminism and Postcolonialism).the Department of Literature and the office of the Vice President for Lasallian Mission prepared the manual that contains modules on teaching Afro-American, Anglo-American and Philippine literature; 21st century literature from the Philippines and the world; poetry, fiction, drama and creative nonfiction both as genre and/or creative writing courses; and literary criticism (Marxism, Psychoanalysis, Deconstruction, Feminism and Postcolonialism).
