It’s been a while since Streetwear industry boomed in the Philippines but today, the local and indie clothing scene has never been more hyped that there are so many brands coming out over the last couple of years. They even received huge support from various groups and individuals, who share the same interest for the art.
Streetwear is a graphic shirt or a sweatshirt mostly for men. However, there are plenty of women who are into streetwear, mostly called as ‘hypebae.’ Despite having a male-led culture, the category cannot be defined by a single look.
Streetwear blends a diverse combination of styles, such as athleisure (casual sportswear), Vintage pieces (logo tees from the 90s are back!) Urban wear, Workwear, and more.
Along with global streetwear players, there are some in the country that continues to inspire and contribute to our local streetwear scene. To know more about these brands, check them out below:
Don’t Blame the Kids
Widely known as DBTK, this brand is a product of the dream and vision of brothers, Emil and Vince. They established it in 2012 with no knowledge and resources about the business they were about to enter. Recently, Khalid, the American Teen himself, wore DBTK shirts during his meet and greet, as well as his actual show. The brand considered it as another milestone and a dream come true.
