This article is kind of late since it’s been 2 months since we ate at this restaurant that serves authentic Filipino cuisine. Mesa, is one of the restaurant from the food group of the family of Eric Dee. Eric Dee is the son of Rikki Lee, a veteran in the food and business industry, who started well-known restaurants like Chin’s Express and Inihaw Express.
Mesa is made pleasant and warm to go to by its bright orange lighting that compliments the wooden tables, chairs that seems to be designed by bamboo and the rattan lampshades and other decorations. On the menu, you can expect mouth-watering tawilis with mangga, salted and spicy swahe, boneless crispy hito, pinaputok na bangus to pinatayong manok, Chicken binakol. Boneless Patatim, and Grilled Liempo all cooked in a special Mesa way. With it’s homey ambiance, proud Filipino interior design and local filipino dishes being served, you can surely explore, feel, and taste the treasures of the Philippines.
Experiencing all those that Mesa offers, I have to mention that what I will never forget is the Baby squid in Olive oil, it maybe is my favorite dish in the friendly restaurant. I just love the soft and juicy texture of the squid and its really tasty and appetizing blend. We also tried patatim and the taste is really rich though I have to admit that mama still cooks better patatim than Mesa *laughs*. We tasted many dishes but aside from the baby squid in olive oil, I will also never forget and will also want to taste again and again their Tinapa rice. It’ll not be nice to say for you won’t be able to taste the goodness of their dishes but their tinapa rice is so good that you won’t really have to order a “Ulam” for that.
All in all, I did enjoy the foods we orders (especially the baby squid in olive oil and their tinapa rice, those two are just so so good). Also, the nice ambiance of Filipino feels and friendly look at the style of the place made us enjoy the bonding moment of me, my workmates, and our supervisor. Mesa is surely a yey for us!
