Bacoor City officials broke ground for bike lanes across the city on that includes the construction of about 18.96 km. of bike lanes with an estimated 664,000 active transport users, including cyclists, students, and workers.
Present during the ceremony at Roma Cafe in Bacoor Blvd. were Mayor Strike B. Revilla, Vice Mayor Rowena Bautista-Mendiola, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Sec. Jaime J. Bautista, and Valenzuela City District 2 Rep. Eric Martinez, who is partnering with Bacoor LGU for the project.
Bautista, meanwhile, mentioned that the project is a significant addition to the almost 800 km of bike lanes that the DOTr has completed in 32 LGUs all over the country.
The bike lane project in Bacoor will cover several critical routes, specifically the following:
- Daang Radyal Blg. 2 (Zapote Market to Bacoor Blvd.)
- Daang Radyal Blg. 2 (Niog to Panapaan)
- Aguinaldo Highway (Salinas to Panapaan)
- Bacoor-Imus Bypass Road
- Bacoor Blvd. (Bayanan)
Also, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista mentioned that the new bike lanes being constructed in Bacoor, Cavite would help address the worsening vehicular congestion in the city.
During the groundbreaking ceremony for the bike lanes here, Bautista said the bike lanes would have an immediate impact on residents and encourage more cyclists to participate in the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Active Transport Program.
The bike lanes and other active transport facilities will be constructed along segments of Bacoor Boulevard, Bacoor-Imus Diversion Road, and Emilio Aguinaldo Highway.
