The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority has announced that for 2023, it will train a total of 1.8 million scholars in various courses.
Tesda Director General Danilo Cruz said that training more scholars is in line with the agency’s commitment to improve its number of enrollees, graduates, assessed trainees and certified technical vocational education and training school.
Last year, a total of 1.26 million Filipinos enrolled in various TVET courses of which 1.23 million have graduated. Also, 907,244 were assessed and 844,368 were certified as skilled workers.
They were the products of 183 Tesda Technology Institutions, 250 public TVET providers and 4,197 privately-run technical-vocational institutions nationwide, implementing more than 17,000 courses, Cruz said.
As these registered programs comply with the Training Regulations that Tesda developed in close coordination with industry, their graduates are job-ready, with the right skills and knowledge needed by employers, he added.
Meanwhile, the preliminary results of the 2022 Study on the Employment of TVET Graduates show that eight of 10 TVET products were able to find jobs.
