A new “Oppa” was added to the long list of Avid K-Drama fans as Lovely Runner leading man, Byeon Woo Seok visits Manila for his “Summer Letter in Manila” Asian Tour last June 22, 2024. The fan meet was a sold out as Byeon interact and re-enact some scenes from his latest K-Drama. He also took group photo with the fans.
Organized by Pulp PH, Byeon serenades his fans in New Frontier Theater in Cubao with the songs popularized in his K-Drama with actress Kim Hye-Yoon like “Sonagi”, the OST he sang himself as Ryu Sun Jae. Also, “I Think I Did” “Sudden Shower” and “Loveholic” to name a few. The crowds melt his heart as the Filo “Tongtongs” (his fans) showed a video of them singing the version of Im Sol’s “Shiro Shiro song.
Wooseok, leads the K-Drama “Lovely Runner” that premieres in TVN last April 8 in South Korea as Ryu Seon-Jae. The 16 episodes webtoon based television series tells the story of a K-Idol who has been in the spotlight since his debut. His life seems perfect, but being in the entertainment industry has completely worn him out and one day a breaking news about him says that he has ended his own life.
Lim Sol plays by Korean Actress Kim Hye Yoon, is a loyal fan of him. Her heart breaks when she found out that Ryu Seon-Jae took his own life. When she was little, she had an accident. Due to that, she gave up on her dream, but listening to Ryu Seon-Jae’s song on the radio gave her comfort and she became his fan since then.
The twist in the story became interesting when Lim Sol’s time travel way back to 15 years ago. There, she faces Ryu Seon-Jae, who is a 19 year old high school student. She struggles to prevent his tragic future.
Lovely Runner was based on the novel “Naeilui Euddeum” by Kim Bbang. The K-Drama earns a lot of good feedback from the viewers, same as its OST like Sudden Shower by Eclipse, Spring Snow by 10CM and Gift by Ha Sungwon. The show itself is a hit. According to Nielsen Korea, the May 21 broadcast of the show garnered an average nationwide viewership rating of 4.8 percent. This is a 0.2 percent increase from its previous episode’s rating of 4.6 percent, marking a new personal record for the show.
