In a bid to tackle unemployment and foster skill development in Toledo City, AboitizPower’s Therma Visayas Inc. (TVI) initiates “Project T3” — a community skills training program focusing on TechVoc, TESDA, and Training. The program aims to equip individuals with technical vocational skills, providing opportunities for employment and contributing to the growth of Toledo’s economy.
Under Project T3, TVI will offer training in NC-II Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and NC-II Pipefitting, alongside NC-II Bread and Pastry Production linked with the Community Bakery project. Selected trainees from TVI’s impact communities in Barangays Bato and Cabitoonan will undergo comprehensive training, and TVI will cover the assessment fees for NC-II certifications, ensuring participants are job-ready.
“Toledo City, an industrial hub, needs a skilled workforce. The graduates of this skills training course would be ‘job-ready,’ and Project T3 aims to increase the hiring potential of participants for an immediate contribution to a more vibrant Toledo economy,” emphasizes Noel Cabahug, TVI Facility Head.
Mayor Marjorie “Joie” Perales of Toledo City applauds the initiative, recognizing TVI’s continuous contributions to the community. She expresses gratitude for the timely and relevant T3 program, acknowledging its positive impact on the local economy.
A collaboration involving Aboitiz Foundation, TESDA, and the Cebu Technological University Pinamungajan, Project T3 kicks off with a goal to provide quality technical training and workshops for 100 beneficiaries. The initiative focuses on practical training aligned with current industry trends, enhancing the employability of participants.
Engr. Redjie Arcadio, CTU Campus Director and project partner, emphasizes the market relevance of the skills being imparted. He underscores the high market demand for welding, scaffolding, and commercial baked goods production skills, aiming for gainful permanent employment for T3 program participants.
“We have high hopes for ‘Project T3’ because of the virtuous cycle it creates – with every progress the program achieves, the greater sustainability we promote in terms of increased living standards and the economy of Toledo,” adds Cabahug.
TVI, known for its state-of-the-art power plant certified in five ISO standards, is committed to creating a positive impact in its host communities. Through Project T3, it seeks to empower individuals, aligning its efforts with broader economic and community development goals.
