Precious Paula Nicole, a drag performer from the Philippines, is slated to make history as the first-ever Filipino drag queen to take part in RuPaul’s DragCon LA, a convention that grew out of the well-known drag competition RuPaul’s Drag Race, which will take place on May 12-13, 2023, at the LA Convention Center in California, United States.
The convention will have a huge roster of drag queens, including the most recent champions of the show’s foreign versions, including Jaida Essence Hall, Kylie Sonique Love, Danny Beard, and Spankie Jackzon, according to World of Wonder, the show’s producer. Additionally, the whole 15th season cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race will be there.
Precious is no stranger to the international drag scene, having participated in RuPaul’s DragCon UK earlier this year with fellow Drag Race Philippines contestants Prince Marell and Corazon Filipinas. She made history as the first winner of Drag Race Philippines, whose debut season aired from August to October 2022.
The upcoming event is said to be the “biggest weekend in Drag Race herstory” and will feature various activities, including performances, parties, booths, meets-and-greets, and talks.
RuPaul’s DragCon LA started in 2015 and has since expanded to include RuPaul’s DragCon NYC, which was launched in 2017. With Precious Paula Nicole’s participation, the convention continues to break barriers and showcase the diversity and talent of drag performers worldwide.
