The “Dr. No” gun used by Sean Connery in the first James Bond movie was sold at an auction in Beverly Hills for $256,000. The previous owner, film producer and prop collector at Disney Plus, Dan Lanigan acquired the pistol at an auction in the United Kingdom back in 2006.
As for the reason why Lanigan sold the pistol he stated that it was due to a change of interests in collecting over the years.
At one point, Lanigan was hesitant to sell the gun as he signed the auction contract 2 weeks before Sean Connery’s death but he was assured by the auction company that it happens usually making him decide to push through the auction. He believes that the gun deserves to be in someone much more interested to the item than he is currently. On the other hand, the winning bidder chose to remain anonymous and was only described as “was an American who has seen every James Bond movie with their children.”
