Cebu City with Department of Transportation have upgraded the design for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). The current design is an improved version of the initial project design approved by the National Economic and Development Authority in 2014.
Bus Rapid Transit or BRT is a planned bus transit project to be launched first in Cebu. In which the buses will travel along a segregated road in the middle of a road. It can be access going through footbridges or pedestrian crossing.
The project aims to improve the traffic situation and improve the mobility of the commuters in Cebu. Also, the design is meant to complement new projects such as monorails, point-to-point bus system and aerial ropeway transit (ART).
According to the Department of Transportation or DOTr said last August 2019, that the final design is done and going to be implemented. The project is suppose to be operational before or by the end of 2021.
