As we know, EDSA has been the main road connecting the North and South. With the main road being congested, how can we even avoid it? Especially when you just commute to go to work?
The Metropolitan Manila Development Agency or MMDA will now listen to even ‘extreme’ proposals to fix the horrible traffic along EDSA which was mentioned on the press briefing last August 2019.
Celine Pialago, spokesperson of MMDA cited the proposal of engineer Ferdinando Guevara, president of GPI Engineers Inc. A plan that making EDSA as a southbound highway, while C5 Road will be opened for vehicles going north. The engineer also proposed having bus stops within a 200m radius from any residence and 54 buses at every bus stop per hour.
Also, another proposal was received by Danilo Lim, MMDA Chairman from Ariston Gorospe Jr., consultant of Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.
According to his proposal, there should be a schedule of car brands that can be only used on certain days to drive along EDSA. He gave figures that show the highest number of vehicles sold in 2018.
Whether these current and upcoming proposals works or not, it should be presented first before the Metro Manila Council. It is the MMDA’s policy-making body which composes of Metro Manila mayors and other agencies.
