The midterm election is fast approaching. That is why candidates from all levels are doing their “last minute” campaign in utilizing both traditional and modern approach.
But with the advent of social media and digital transformation, we ask TEAM PRC employees and their thoughts on the effects of Digital Transformation and Millenials in the upcoming elections.
The 2019 Philippine General Election will be conducted on May 13, 2019. It shall be a midterm election, where the winners will take office on June 30, 2019, midway the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The Philippines will adopt an automated election system (AES) in the 2019 elections. The COMELEC announced In December 2018 that the Philippine AES passed the review conducted by international systems and software testing firm, Pro V&V, in Alabama, USA. As such, aside from the use of Precinct Count Optimal Scanner (PCOS) machine, for some of the OFWs in other countries, they will still use the traditional process wherein votes will be counted manually.
The Commission had a ‘trusted build’ program wherein the program to be used in the midterms in 2019 is built using the reviewed components. Commissioner Marlon Casquejo on December 17 2018 turned over the executable file of the Election Management System (EMS) Trusted Build for the May 13, 2019 National and Local Elections (NLE) to the Commission en banc. The file which will be escrowed to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
More than 18,000 national and local positions will be up for grabs in the midterm elections on May 13, 2019.
Whatever the results, we hope that our voters have grown wisely enough for them to cast their vote for who they think will help our beloved nation.
