Back in the days as kids, candies are one of the things that make us happy. Part of our childhood is going to our local sari-sari stores to buy our favorite snacks. Before, we would always ask piso from our parents just to satisfy our craving for these candies. We cannot deny that our childhood won’t be as fascinating as it is if it weren’t for these goodies:
Mik-Mik
Who would ever forget about Mik-Mik? The sweetened, powdered milk that tasted like confectionary sugar. The usual way to eat Mik-Mik is to eat it straight from the sachet through a plastic straw. Mik-Mik comes in three different flavors: Sweetened Milk Powder, Sweetened Choco Powder, and Sweetened Ube Powder.
Choc-nut
This all-time favorite peanut milk chocolate bar is not just a kid’s favorite, all ages seem to love Choc-nut too! Kids would even play with the foil wrapper and pretend that they have silver teeth. We are so lucky that Choc-nut is still available in most grocery stores.
Ovaltinees
The sweet chocolate pellets that taste really good! How can we forget those days that we would binge eat Ovaltinees during our break time? One pack is never enough!
Haw Haw
The list won’t be complete without this milk candy bar that tastes sweet and creamy. No matter how we eat it, Haw Haw will never fail us!
White Rabbit
One of the greatest debates during our childhood is whether we can eat the wrapper of the White Rabbit or not. And the answer is yes! The wrapper is edible, and it is made from sticky rice. However, there are different imitations of White Rabbit these days. One thing for sure is that no one can beat the original White Rabbit!
L.A.L.A Chocolate
The classic Pinoy chocolate bar that almost all local sari-sari stores have. This iconic chocolate has been making the kids’ heart happy while eating L.A.L.A.
These are just some of the notable candies to name, and there are still many candies that we can still consider. It is nice to reminisce the good old days and how these candies completed our childhood. Many years might have gone through, but the feeling that these goodies gave us will always linger in our inner child.
