Did someone say “free foreign films” at the cinema? Yup, you heard it right!
The Embassy of Denmark is bringing back its annual Danish Film Festival. The film fest will be from
November 8 to 11 at Cinema 7 of Robinsons Movieworld, Robinsons Galleria. The showings are free
admission and will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
Nine amazing films will be featured throughout the four days, with a special Philippine entry included in
the lineup. Here’s the list of movies you can catch:
Land of Mine by Martin Pieter Zandvliet (2015)
Inspired by actual events in post-World War II, a group of young German boys is forced to clear a beach
of 45,000 landmines under a Danish Sergeant who grows close to them along the way.
Walk with Me by Lisa Ohlin (2016)
While on deployment to Afghanistan, Thomas steps on a land mine and wakes up in a local
rehabilitation center. There he meets Sofie, a ballerina from the Royal Danish Ballet, who helps him
recover and feel again.
Shamer’s Daughter by Kenneth Kainz (2015)
Dina has the power to look into the soul of people and reveal their shame. When the royal family is
murdered and the sole heir to the throne is accused, Dina is summoned to uncover the killer. In her
attempt, she finds herself in a world that puts her own life at risk.
In A Better World by Susanne Bier (2010)
The world of Sudan and Denmark is presented through the eyes of those who experience the good and
bad. Anton is a Swedish doctor travels to Sudan to treat victims of a warlord whom he develops a
connection with. Meanwhile, his son Elias meets new-kid Christian who helps defend him in his times of
need.
Otto is A Rhino by Kenneth Kainz (2013)
Topper is a lively, optimistic boy with an exciting imagination. One day, he finds a pencil and draws a
rhino which comes to life. He’s willing to go above and beyond to protect his new friend, Otto the Rhino.
Terribly Happy by Henrik Ruben Genz (2008)
Robert tries to escape the skeletons in his closet. In an attempt to start over, he moves to a village in the
countryside and lives by the book. However, he soon finds out that trouble finds him wherever he goes.
Waltzing Regitze by Kaspar Rostrup (1989)
A middle-aged couple’s marriage is told through the flashbacks from a summer party. From love at first
sight during the war to living together to the inevitable in-law drama.
Anti by Morten BH (2016)
Simon and Frede are best friends who have more than enough time on their hands. Simon has always
loved drawing but, has never found an avenue to share his talent. He learns about a graffiti culture town
and starts painting all around town. A graffiti crew recruits him, but he finds out things aren’t quite as
they seem.
Dagsin by Atom Magadia (2016)
After the death of his wife, Justino relives their budding romance and the horrors of life which he
witnessed. He stumbles upon his late wife’s diary and sees the experiences from her point of view.
