If you’re a millennial and enjoy indie music, you’ve probably heard of Karpos Live. For years, we’ve seen them offer a series of live concerts that uplifts local and international artists, giving people a damn good time while highlighting even the Philippine indie music scene.
Karpos Live has featured some of the hottest rising artists including Reese Lansangan, Tom’s Story, Honne, Anderson Paak, Tom Misch, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, Ben & Ben, Clara Benin, Urbandub, and The Royal Concept.
This month, however, Karpos Live featured R&B local artist Jess Connelly and UK-based singer Bruno Major, who took the stage for this year’s Mix 3.2, held last October 23.
Jess Connelly sang tracks from her new album, JCon. She also performed crowd favorites Wait, Underblanket, 2:55 am, and Turn Me Down.
Musicians Lustbass, CRWN, and Butta B joined her for the show, whom she called her “dream team” on her Instagram post.
Rapper P-Lo hyped up the crowd for their version of High Street Drive By which he and Jess co-wrote.
Singer-songwriter Bruno Major gave a stellar performance for his first ever time in Manila.
“I came here with my bag in one hand and my guitar in the other. I only have two hands. Let’s do something different tonight,” he said.
He sang his most played song on Spotify, Easily, sharing the backstory with the crowd. Fair-Weather Friend, On Our Own, and Just the Same was part of his lineup of songs.
The two artists gave everyone their money’s worth and a great mid-week chill out night.
Closing off the third series for Mix 3 will be American ambient-pop band Cigarettes After Sex and the classic, well-known local band UDD on November 8.
Karpos Multimedia is behind these extremely amazing indie experiences, the same producers of the biggest music festival in the Philippines, Wanderland. The siblings behind the production saw the opportunity to give Filipinos a more intimate experience with some of their favorite artists.
Since their market is catered to the millennials and gen z, Karpos makes sure to keep tickets at an affordable price without sacrificing the quality of the whole experience.
A successful 2018 for Karpos Live is safe to say the least. Here’s to ending the year with a bang and hoping this music-loving phenomenon continues to “give us a damn good time.”
