With its intense action scenes, very artistic and almost unrealistic color and set design of the made-up slum area where the whole story revolves the whole night, Buy Bust gained praises to many netizens, film critics and even from New York Times.
The whole film is pure intense action and violence which made it really exciting that you can feel some of the scenes in your skin. “HINDI KA BATAS”
This is the line of Brandon Vera to Anne Curtis after she killed “Hudas” without any hesitation. Just as what the reactions of Filipinos to the “War On Drugs” where you’d usually hear this phrase. You will undeniably have a second thought of what is really right with this line from Brandon Vera. Anne Curtis’ answered him “Mamili ka. Tayo o siya?” which means “You choose. Us or him?”
“NI HINDI NGA NATIN KILALA KUNG SINONG KAKAMPI”
This line was delivered by one of the characters who you wouldn’t think will deliver such line because he’s the “funny” character of the story. Despite being held captive by PDEA, he keeps on uttering punchlines to give a little lighter mood to the film. But as mentioned, that line holds a really strong idea of what was really happening, not only talking about the government system but to everything we encounter in our lives. We never really know who’s with us and who’s not.
“NANLABAN YUNG SUSPEK”
This may be the strongest line in the film, and yes, the intention of putting it on the end of the film as the final line is undeniably genius. Reflecting the current issue of war on drugs, this line has a really dark side because of being used everytime a life of an accused drug user or pusher is taken. “Nanlaban yung suspek” sends chills on my skin and gave a really heavy feeling on my chest and a bad lump on my throat for it made me realize how bad the war on drugs is and we don’t even know who to put all the blame.
