Lately, I’ve been having a lot of out-of-town trips with my friends or with my significant other. It is a great way to take time off of the weekly grind. Either planned or impromptu, I’m always game for it. From jellyfish infested beaches in Batangas to rainy, relaxing views, and food trips in Tagaytay, there is one thing that is consistent. I’m the designated driver.
So in this editorial article, I am listing the best things to keep you company through your long drive.
1. Friends and Family
As the saying goes “No man is an island.” The most integral part of a weekend getaway is having the people you love in the car. They are the best source of entertainment from bickering to singing out loud to your favorite tunes. That said, let’s move on to the next.
2. Good music
Let’s face facts. There will be a point on the road trip when you and your friends run out of stories or topics. When you hit that point, it’ll be long, awkward silences for the rest of the trip. So why not bring a small Bluetooth speaker with you to blast your favorite tunes and sing along to it, regardless of how bad you sing.
3. Light food and drinks
While on the road, you and your friends might get hungry. It’s always advisable to bring snacks that aren’t too sweet or salty. Don’t drink too much water or you might need to rush to the nearest gas station in the next 10 kilometers.
4. A Car (obviously)
Okay, so this part is a no-brainer but trust me, I have a point. The car you drive is the pièce de résistance of the whole road trip. I’d prefer a car that is stylish, spacious, fuel efficient, and comfortable to drive. Cars like the new Suzuki Dzire and Swift have features that resonate with millennials like myself.
I was invited to Suzuki’s event and seeing how these cars look and how they function, the Dzire and Swift made it to my car wishlist! I’d drive this car anywhere, no matter how far I go for that quick vacation getaway.
I believe a good getaway car brings a great and memorable road trip experience.
