The new five-peso coin, released for distribution by the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) last December 1, features a photo of “ANDRES BONIFACIO,” with inscriptions of his name, “REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS,” and “5 PISO”. At the back of it features the “tayabak” or jade vine, which is indigenous to the Philippines, and the BSP logo.
The new five-peso and one-peso coin show similarities when it comes to size and color. However, the BSP mentioned, it made sure that new five-peso coins look from the actual coins to avoid confusion.
