An estimated 5,000 runners, from all parts of the country and even foreign participants, are expected to run at first ever Clark Sunset Marathon, this Saturday, December 9. This is the inaugural race conceptualised by Runrio in partnership with Tourism Promotions Board and Clark Development Corporation.
The event is expected to be a hit to all running enthusiasts as they will experience a more relaxing and “chill” type of run.
“We wanted to offer a different running course and experience to all runners who have been passionate about joining races. Clark Sunset Marathon’s participants will undergo a much comfortable run since the event will be outside Manila, and it will start at 4:00pm where the sun is not that hot anymore. In addition to that, this event has secured route standard accreditation from Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and International Association of Athletics Fededrations (IAAF)” said Andrew Neri, managing partner of Runrio Events, Inc.

The full marathon’s gun start happens at 5 p.m. with the 21K, 10K and 5K races following at 5:15 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 5:45 p.m. respectively, according to race director Franco Bambico.
CDC Tourism Promotions manager Noemi Julian said the event will be the first of several as CDC has signed a 10-year partnership with Runrio and next month’s maiden staging couldn’t come at a better time.

For the inaugural year, runners have four race categories to choose from namely, 5K ,10K ,21K ,42K. The culmination of the event is a music festival that will feature DJ Tom Taus and DJ Ashley Rivera.
